This week's
Diva Challenge was a 'UMT' or Use My Tangle, and she picked 'Camelia', created by Anne Marks. It's a lovely flexible tangle suitable for a grid or freestyle and I really enjoyed using it. I decided to let it take centre stage in this ZIA.
I'm off now to have a look at what everyone else has done this week - so far, I haven't had a moment to see them, so am really looking forward to that!

Camelia, with a little Flux and Aura-Leah. |
Thank you Laura, for giving us such inspiration!!
Wow! This is just lovely. I really love your line work and the shading. Beautiful Zia!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lady Kate! This one really did just draw itself! Axxx
DeleteOh, now Annie, this does look so nice in a grid. You do gorgeous sparkles and shading too.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jean; as I said to Kate, this one just flew out of my pen without too much involvement from me...it is a lovely tangle, isn't it? Axxx
DeleteWonderful ZIA :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Lily - it is definitely more ZIA than Zentangle tile and I really enjoyed doing it. Axxx
DeleteBeautiful piece. Like the shading that you did.
ReplyDeleteThank you Donald. I love doing the shading, so very glad you noticed! Axxx
DeleteAnnie, I love the combo of tangles you used! And even though you used Camelia in a grid, it blends so well with your free organic tangles!! Very nice, I like it!!! :0) Share Humanity
ReplyDeleteThanks Annette - interesting tangle, Camelia - isn't it? I used a curved grid and let the tangle do its own thing at the ends...it did itself really! Axxx
DeleteMy first thought was it was a lovely cup of coffee on stilts. I love it!
ReplyDeleteAh yes! I can see where that image has come from now! Well, I love a good cuppa so perhaps it was on my mind as I was drawing. Thanks Debra! Axxx
DeleteVery beautiful, Annie. I like Aura-Leah next to it.
ReplyDeleteThank ou Annemarie. It's a lovely tangle and I shall use it again - Aura-Leah is one of my all time favourites. Axxx
DeleteWow, your zia stands really out. It's gorgeous and i like how you "sparkled" your camelia.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Beewatch - glad you like it. I used a slightly different style to fill in the 'black' which was easier but also gives a nice and softer effect. Axxx
DeleteWow! Absolutely gorgeous! Wonderful shading and I love your fabulous variation of Aura-Leah!
ReplyDeleteThank you, LonettA!! What lovely words of encouragement - thanks again. Axxx
ReplyDeleteThis was awesome! I love how you put a larger Camelia around the grid-based ones and the pairing with AuraLeah and Flux was perfect!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you liked it, Leslie - thank you so much for dropping by to leave this lovely message. Axxx
DeleteThis is a super tile and your Camelia has a lovely shine.
ReplyDeleteThanks Chrissie - it was a lovely challenge and I shall definitely use Camelia again...there have been some great versions. Axxx
DeleteI love your "mise en scene" here (the setting?) Beautiful tile!
ReplyDeleteMerci beaucoup, Nat! Mise en scene son les mots justes.......je crois! Axxx
DeleteBeautiful! Love your extension of the swirl!
ReplyDeleteThank you Helen! Great of you to pop by and leave me a comment. Axxx

Oh Diane! Thank you. It's a lovely compliment but everyone has done a gorgeous attempt....you'd have been stuck if you'd seen them all first. And yours is so utterly original! I think the key thing to do is to find the 'clever' tricks - I learned quickly that 'sparkle' made all the difference and so always try to include that somewhere in my tangles. Camelia lent itself to that because it has quite a lot of black in it. Thanks again. Axxx
