Diva Challenge - first of 2016! 249 Auraknot and Diva Dance

Happy New Year to you all!!
A good one had by all in our little world, thank goodness, after a bit of a shaky start when my dearest husband was extremely lucky in a little fight with an electric saw....no lasting damage done! Puts everything into perspective....

Here's a lovely challenge for the new year from Laura, our Diva of the Challenges! A combination of Auraknot and Diva Dance, celebrating 5 great years of challenges. Mine might not be the most original but it was great fun to do and seemed to just draw itself. Lovely Zen.

Looking forward to a new year of inspiration and challenge in the world of Zentangle - can't imagine life without it, to be honest. Thank you to all those who inspire and challenge!
Axxx

  1. Nice! I struggle with auraknot but you nailed it! Lovely work, and I appreciate the white space. Leaves room for that movement.

    1. Thanks, Debra! I remember struggling with Auraknot at the beginning, but I practised and now it's not too difficult! Axxx

  2. Well, Annie, you've started the New Year with a great tile, I like it a lot. We're off to the Costa Del Sol at the end of January - can you arrange the weather for us please?

  3. I kind of thought the same thing when I did my tile, Annie, that is very similar to yours. I figured that I'd see a lot of them. No matter, it is fun to see how, even with the same idea, they turn out so differently. Yours is so well done! I'm glad your hubby is fine. It must have been scary though!

  5. Whew. I knew he was in the hospital, but I didn't know it had to do with an unfortunate meeting with an electric saw. Yikes. Jean is right. Your tile doesn't look derivative at all. Nice. Feliz Ano Nuevo. (Too bad I don't know how to add tildes on my lap top, so pretend there's a little squiggle over the "n" in ano.

  7. Wow, what a beautiful way to interpret Auraknot and Diva Dance. I especially like the minimalism of the overall tangle.

  9. Yes, Annie, (little) accidents make us see things in perspective. I'm soooo happy that nothing really bad happened to him.
    I like your tile!

  10. Seeing how people are making submissions with Diva Dance as their Auraknot breakdown is boggling my mind! I find Auraknot difficult enough with straight lines, never mind having to 'worry' about squiggly lines and bumps melding into each other! Very impressive!

    1. Thank you Sheila. It's amazing what some people can do with Auraknot. I can just about manage the star shape and having practised that quite a lot, I didn't find it too challenging to add in the Diva dance. In fact, in some ways it was easier than doing straight lines!! Axxx

  11. OMG, I am so intimidated by electric saws, and I see with good reason! Just the thought of the inadvertent separation of any little bit of me leaves me woozy! Glad he is OK. At any rate, I love your Auraknot. You were so clever to actually knot in each round of the Diva Dance part. How did you keep that all under control? That little extra trailing part evokes any number of imaginations - a ribbon tie to hang the star, a meteor trail through the sky, the end of the yarn from which the star was knit...anything! Love it!

    1. Thank you Antonine! Sorry to distress you with non-Zentangle related stories...although the stitching probably qualifies as a new pattern! As for keeping Auraknot under control - why, simple! One line at a time!! A very Zen tile for me to do. Glad you like it. Axxx

  12. Goodness! A friend of mine actually lost 3 fingers to a table saw so I hope he is well and that both of you are recovering from the trauma! I love your tile as well :)
