Laura has given us a great challenge this week. A Diptych!
Oh wow, I've never done a Diptych before. Love the name and love what I've been seeing on other blogs.
I decided to do my Diptych (like writing it as well as saying it - it's almost as good as Dingbatz. Dingbatz JUST has the edge though) on a Renaissance tile. The hardest thing was bending it straight down the middle and as you can see, I didn't quite manage that bit.
After that, I just really enjoyed trying the 'mirrored' but-not-exactly effect that I rather like.
Thanks for looking.

This is great. The Florz is somehow very 3d, so this looks almost carved rather than drawn. My eye is drawn back to it . It's a deceptively simple piece and I want to try again now.
ReplyDeleteThanks Margaret - I was really pleased how Florz looks. It gives the piece more depth. I copied Maria Thomas' way of shading only around the edges of each section - something I'm really enjoying. It gives a very different effect to shading each part as if it were lit by the sun. I'm very Dingbatz inspired at the moment too...Axxx
DeleteThis tile is lovely! Such a rich depth and the highlighting really sets it off! Beautifully done.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much...the dyptich really suits a renaissance tile, I think. Axxx
