Great to have another Zendala template - and a bit of time to complete it today. Erin said be Happy - either in the names of the tangles or the choice of tangles and I was. However...
..as always, I feel very critical of my own work. I wish I'd chosen something other than Diva Dance in the centre circles - too busy.
I did choose some of the tangles that made me happy and as it's the process that counts in Zentangle, I can honestly say I enjoyed doing it. Usually, when I sit back at the end, I quite like how it's turned out too. Never mind. Can't have it all! Well, not always!.
Printemps, Crescent Moon, Quandary, Shattuck, Diva Dance - all make me HAPPY! |
And so, having found another half an hour or so after supper, I've done another version. Just as much fun to do - and in the end, I like it a tad better than the first one. I think this one definitely has a 'sea' theme..and I decided to 'go bold' on the shading....what do you think?
Tipple, Aquafleur, an Ahh in the middle and oh my, who can tell me the name of the shell one??? |
Looking forward to seeing some great contributions to the challenge
Wauw, both are very beautiful, the second one is very elegant and sprcial. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteThank you Carmela - glad you like them. Delighted Erin is back! Axxx
DeleteYes it is also my kind of thing. The zendala' from Erin. I love them.
DeleteBoth are very lovely, my fave is the first but I do love how you shaded in the 2nd Zendala - brilliant!
ReplyDeleteThank you Lila. I do love shading, which is probably why I like the second one better. Axxx
DeleteOoooh I like the first one - a fun filled and detailed piece - the kind I like to do and see in others work. Funny thing though this time I went very sparse - just want appealed to me today. In the second one I really like the center pieces filled with the beads - sort of reminds me of a ferris wheel or one of those garden water wheels with how it appears weighted. Nicely done. Oh are you asking about Angel Fish as the shell?
ReplyDeleteYou've sold the first one to me - thank you so much! I did wonder if I'd put too many busy tangles in - but they're my favourites! And yes- thanks for bringing Angel Fish back to my poor old memory - I did look for it but there are so many and I couldn't for the life of me remember what it might begin with.

I really like your first one Annie because it is so busy, love the shiny Printemps, must use that one more often. The second one looks like a completely different template even tho' I know it isn't! Linda x
ReplyDeleteI'm totally in love with Printemps - thanks to Shelly Beach - and use it a lot now. I'm so glad you like my version, Linda and yes, the choice of tangles can really change the template, can't it? Axxx
DeleteI also love the first one. Busy is what I called mine this week also. Angle fish is one of my favorite tangles. It is just so pretty and I was considering using it myself but couldn't seem to get it right. You did it beautifully!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jean - sometimes what looks too busy to the person who did it, looks detailed to the observer. I am going to have a look at yours now! Thank you - isn't Angel Fish a pretty one. Axxx
DeleteBoth are very Nice, buth the second one is my favorite. Very elegant and flowery and i can see your happines .
ReplyDeleteThanks again, Carmela - I'm so glad you like them and particularly my second one. Axxx
DeleteVery cool! My favourite is the second one too, because I love the background cubes! But I think you've done a wonderful job of giving the first one a layering effect with your shading. Happy tangles for sure!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sue. It's so good to have feedback (especially such nice words!) I just love the different options Zentangle gives you to create great effects.

i like the flowery look of your first one! your second is more open and free - gives me a happy feeling just looking at it :)
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you Alice! Axxx
DeleteOh, both are pretty, but I love the sea like theme in the second and your shading!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kate. I do love shading so I'm always pleased when someone says they like it! Axxx
DeleteI like them both, Annie, but I see what you mean and the 2nd one is my favorite. I also see that you are too hard on yourself :-)
ReplyDeleteI forgot to say that I think your shading is fantastic.
DeleteThank you Annemarie - and you are always so very kind. As I said to Kate above, I love the shading part so I'm always very pleased when other people notice it. Axxx
DeleteI do love BOTH of them! We're always our worst critics, right? Your shading makes your zendalas move (especially the first one! I actually thought it was animated! My crazy eyes!) :)
ReplyDeleteThat's lovely feedback, Katie! Thank you so much. Axxx
DeleteBoth look great. I can understand your concerns about the first one but I think the shading and variety of tangles makes it work. I do like the second one also. Like what you did with triangles with the differently shaded sides.
ReplyDeleteThank you Donald! I do feel less critical of the first one now, after seeing it everytime I see a new comment..but really did enjoy doing the heavy shading of the second one. Axxx
DeleteI like them both, the first one is very busy but I still like it. The second one reminds me of one of those little boxes that you can buy as a child with the ball bearings. You keep tilting it to put the little balls in the holes. I can see your little pearls whizzing round now!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Chrissie - and I know what you mean about the little ball bearing games. It's a nice idea and one I hadn't thought of quite so specifically, although I did want to get the sense that the pearls had gathered together at the base of each space. Nice that you put it in words. Axxx
